SIU to test new warning system Feb. 4
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale will test its new outdoor emergency notification system on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The tests will occur between 10 a.m. and noon, during the normal monthly statewide test.
During this time, voice messages and the siren audio may be generated to adjust the system’s sound levels for optimal campus performance.
The new system will be louder and provide more coverage for the campus than the previous system. The system will also be heard in some areas of Carbondale adjacent to the campus.
