Saluki Family Weekend promises fun, memories

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Family Weekend 2013 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will bring Salukis and their families together for an event-filled weekend and the opportunity to make some great memories.

Highlights include the Chancellor’s Family Weekend Brunch, the Saluki Family Tailgate, and the Saluki football team facing Youngstown State in Missouri Valley Conference action. Other events include the 77th annual Greek Sing, campus tours, volleyball against Loyola University, and special Craft Shop activities.

The festivities also include the third annual Saluki Kickoff 5K Run, Big Red Chair photos, a craft sale, free use of the Student Recreation Center facilities, along with free paddleboat, canoe and kayak use at campus boat dock for students and their families.  Ecological artist David Edgar will present Fantastic “Recycled Plastic” at the University Museum Auditorium and the museum will host special exhibits and an Eco Art Fair as well.  Special promotions and activities are taking place throughout campus.
