CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The 2013 SIU Leadership Conference is set for Oct. 5 at the Student Center, providing Southern Illinois University Carbondale students with the opportunity to expand their leadership skills, interact with others and learn.

All SIU students are welcome.  The event will feature a keynote speaker, brunch, and a variety of breakout sessions.  The advance registration fee is $5 per person; conference participant registration information is available at siuc.orgsync.com/org/siulc/Participants.

Organizers are now seeking presenters for the conference.  The conference topics are typically quite diverse and presenters can be individuals or small groups.  The participatory workshops can be group activities, interactive discussions, presentations or other productions.

Previous topics include diversity, leadership skills, financial advice, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, social justice, living an environmentally friendly lifestyle and much more.  The goal of the conference is to provide participants a unique and enriching leadership training and development experience.

The deadline for submitting program proposals is Sept. 20.  Submit proposals to Student Involvement and Leadership Development on the third floor of the Student Center.  For more information, contact David Lynch, executive director, at 815/978-6887 or by email at dlynch15@siu.edu, or Bethany Wendler, coordinator, at 618/534-5714 or by email at wendlerba@sdev.siu.edu.
