Tim Miller returns for performance workshops

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Tim Miller, author and performance artist, returns to Southern Illinois University Carbondale for performance workshops.

Miller will be on campus beginning Wednesday, Sept. 28, to present “Lay of the Land,” his take on the living gay in modern America, complete with anecdotes about his life as a touring performer and his opinions about the political atmosphere and how it affects gay people.

Students participating in Miller’s workshop offer a performance of their own on Sept. 30, beginning at 8 p.m. in the Kleinau Theater in the Communications Building.

Miller visited SIUC in 2009 to present “Glory Box,” his exploration of love, gay marriage and challenges facing gay couples.  He is a performer and author, and the recipient of numerous grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.  Miller’s most recent book, “1001 Beds,” is an anthology of his performances, essays and journals.
