Workshop to distinguish food fact from fiction

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Separating fact from fiction when it comes to good nutrition can be tricky but the Student Health Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is offering to help.

“Beer is Not a Food Group” is a workshop set for 6 p.m., March 31, at the Student Health Center Auditorium. Lynn Gill, nutrition coordinator, will help participants muddle through the maze of available nutrition information to learn to differentiate myth from fact. She’ll also offer tips for eating a balanced diet even if you have a very busy schedule.

The workshop is free and everyone is welcome.

The Student Health Center’s Wellness Center is sponsoring a variety of workshops this spring highlighting health-related topics. The complete schedule is on the Student Health Center website at www.shc.siuc.edu or on the Community Health Calendar at www.communityhealthcalendar.siuc.edu. For more information about the workshops or the services the Student Health Center and its Wellness Center offer call 618/536-4441.
