Homecoming comedy show set for Oct. 7

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s homecoming comedy show promises plenty of laughs on Oct. 7.

The show starts at 8 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms. Tickets are $5 each and you can get them in advance only in the business office on the second floor of the Student Center.

Featured in the “F’N Funny Homecoming Comedy Show” are Nema Williams, Benji Brown and Cocoa Brown. Williams appeared on “Comedy Groove and “”Comic Remix” on Comedy Central as well as on BET’s “Comic View” and at The Hollywood Improve, The Laugh Factor and The Comedy Store.

Benji Brown stars on Miami’s WEDR 99 Jamz-The Big Lip Bandit Morning Show daily and you’ve also seen him on BET’s Comic VIEW, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and at acclaimed comedy venues throughout the country. He’s headlined the last three years on the successful RJE Comedy Cabaret Tour.

Cocoa Brown wows with her energetic comedic performances that critics characterize as a combination of Richard Pryor, Jerry Lewis, Marilyn Monroe and Whoopi Goldberg. Winning the title of DC Comedienne of the Year, she earned a spot on the Def Comedy Tour and was a finalist in the Bacardi by Night Comedy Competition. She performed on “Showtime at the Apollo,” claiming the champion role for five weeks on the Comedy TKO series. She’s also a three-year headliner on the RJE Urban Comedy Cabaret Tour.
