Saluki women’s basketball offers specialty camps

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Saluki women’s basketball at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is offering specialty camps this summer for girls who want to improve their skills on the basketball court.

Saluki Slam will be June 5-6 at the Student Recreation Center. This is a team camp for all middle school, high school junior varsity, and varsity teams. Each team will play a minimum of six guaranteed games.

Teams enrolling in the camp must have a minimum of seven players and a maximum of 12 players. Teams are responsible for their own lodging and meals. Registration is $350 per team and due no later than May 20.

There are two sessions of Big Dawg Day Camp for girls in grade 3-8. The sessions will run June 7-9 and Aug. 2-4. Each session runs from 9 a.m. to noon daily at the Student Recreation Center. Campers will learn the fundamentals of basketball from Saluki players and coaching staff members. Registration is $75 and includes a T-shirt and regulation size Saluki basketball.

Saluki Slumber is June 9-11. This is a camp for girls in grades 6-12. The camp will teach participants the fundamentals of basketball, offer position work for the more advanced players and teach the basics of five on five play. Registration is $275 for overnight campers or $225 for commuter campers.

Saluki Elite is June 11-12 for high school girls in grades 9-12. This camp brings talented players together, providing them with a chance to play against top-level athletes. Members of the Saluki women’s basketball team staff will be on hand looking for future Salukis. Registration is $200 for overnight campers or $160 for commuter campers. All meals are included in this cost.
