by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The School of Music at Southern Illinois University Carbondale presents a classical guitar concert.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students.

The program includes a wide selection of Latin American composers, including Manuel Ponce (1882-1948), Laurindo Almeida (1917-1995), and Roque Carbajo (contemporary).

Other music in the program includes Federico Moreno Torroba (1891-1982), a Spanish composer credited with introducing the Spanish musical form zarzuela to international audiences, Stepan Rak, a Czech composer known for technical innovations, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) -- yes, that Mozart.

Joseph Breznikar directs the 15-member ensemble.
