Media Advisory -- Youthful Entrepreneurs

A group of Carbondale grade school students is participating in a youth entrepreneurship program courtesy of the Southern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Office of Economic and Regional Development.

Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover a visit at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, to the SIUC College of Business by 48 fourth and fifth graders in Betsy Brown’s Lewis School academically talented program. The youngsters will visit the Burnell D. Kraft Trading Room in Rehn Hall as they learn about the stock market, investments and personal financial responsibility.

Speakers will include a representative of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Jill Gebke, director of enrollment management for the College of Business, discussing the opportunities SIUC offers students. Brown’s students will continue with the entrepreneurship curriculum and interactive special activities through the end of the school year.
