Student Center to host Green Fair on Oct. 22

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Student Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will celebrate National Campus Sustainability Day with a Green Fair on Thursday, Oct. 22.

The Green Fair will run 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Roman Room, showcasing a variety of displays featuring green initiatives from various University departments and student organizations along with some from the local community.

Scheduled exhibitors include: the Student Center, SIUC Recycling and VermiComposting Program, Dining by Chartwells, University Housing, Sustainability Council, Eco Dawgs, Keep Carbondale Beautiful, Southern Sustainability, Energy Solutions, Saluki Heritage Interpreters and others.

Saluki Spokes will present a free workshop on the west patio of the Student Center and the SIUC Parking Division will offer bike registration there as well. The SIUC Jazz Ensemble will provide music for the festivities too, playing in the Roman room from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Sustainability Day commemoration and Green Fair are part of the ongoing effort across campus to promote a greener future with emphasis on sustainability.
