Media Advisory -- Naturalization Ceremony
Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to join approximately 100 of the nation’s newest citizens at naturalization ceremonies later this week at the SIU School of Law at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Federal Judge J. Phil Gilbert will preside over the ceremony at 11 a.m., Friday, April 24, in the auditorium at the Hiram H. Lesar Law Building. This is the largest number of new U.S. citizens sworn in at a ceremony at the law school. Gilbert is a judge for the Southern District of Illinois.
Media members should remain quiet during the actual ceremony. Interviews will be available once the ceremony concludes. The ceremony will last about one hour.
