Alumni invited to Southern Illinois Miners game

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Williamson County Chapter of the SIU Alumni Association invites alumni and friends of Southern Illinois University Carbondale to watch the Southern Illinois Miners minor league baseball team take on the Traverse City (Mich.) Beach Bums on July 12 at Rent One Park in Marion.

A pre-game picnic begins at 5 p.m. at 17th Street Bar and Grill, located near the ballpark at 2700 17th St. in Marion. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Rent One Park is at the intersection of Illinois 13 and Interstate 57 in Marion. Visit www.southernillinoisminers.com for more information about the ballpark and the Miners.

Cost to attend both the picnic and the game is $18 per person for SIU Alumni Association members. Non-members pay $20 per person. The menu includes smoked chicken, pulled pork sandwich, two side items and two beverage coupons. Reservations are due before July 7.

The Williamson County Alumni Chapter wishes to thank all alumni and friends who contributed to the scholarship fund via a Telefund campaign this spring. The chapter awarded scholarships worth $1,875 each to four graduating Williamson County high school seniors attending SIUC in the fall.
