SIUC offers voiceovers course

by Tom Woolf

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Have you ever wondered whose voice you are listening to on TV and radio commercials? How about documentaries or audio books?

Southern Illinois University Carbondale can help you become a professional voiceover artist! This fun, informative and empowering class teaches how to start a successful career as a voiceover artist.

Instructors will discuss some of the many details of the voiceover industry, the philosophy of marketing, the importance of your voiceover demo, and much more. They also will coach and produce script-readings and even record you in the classroom to later evaluate. Each student will get a personal evaluation from the instructor.

This two-hour introduction workshop teaches many of the ins and outs of this huge and lucrative industry. Be warned, many who have taken this class have gone on to become real, bona-fide, professional voice actors. Come ready to laugh, learn, and be inspired.

This course is set for 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb.3, in room 1018 of the Communications Building on the SIUC campus. Registration fees are $40, with the deadline to register Jan. 29.
