Media advisory: Commissioning of 'The Saluki' train
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are invited to cover the commissioning of "The Saluki," one of the new, expanded passenger service routes offered by Amtrak.
A commissioning ceremony is set for 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Amtrak depot in downtown Carbondale.
The ceremony will feature the Marching Salukis, short speeches by officials from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the city of Carbondale, Amtrak and others. Officials and other invited guests will then board The Saluki for its inaugural journey north to Chicago.
