SIUC to host British Soccer Camp this summer

by Carmen Bell

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A top youth soccer camp is coming to Southern Illinois University Carbondale this summer.

British Soccer Camp is now the largest youth soccer camp in the United States. The No. 1 soccer company in the United States, Challenger Sports, has been invited to hold one of its nationwide programs for players in grades one-12.

Camp will be held at Stehr Field on the SIUC campus June 26-30. Grades one-four will meet 9 a.m. to noon and grades five-12 meet 1-4 p.m.

British Soccer Camps provide young players with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts right in the heart of the players' community. Each British Soccer Camp provides players of all ages and abilities the appropriate program and level of curriculum.

Each day includes training in individual foot skills, technical skills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily tournament. Equally important, the coaching staff provides players with lessons in self-discipline, good sportsmanship and respect for others and for the game.

The company has been conducting soccer camps in the United States for more than 15 years. To find out more, visit its Web site at www.challengersports.com.
