Multi-Color Day is Saturday, Nov. 13

CARBONDALE, Ill. - - Prospective students will have the opportunity to get an overview of campus and participate in a cultural festival at Multi-Color Day, Saturday, Nov. 13, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The open house runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center, followed by a cultural festival from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Lawson Hall Room 161.

Linda Schuette, associate director of undergraduate admissions, said the annual Multi-Color Day is a very popular event that draws busloads of people from the Chicago and St. Louis areas.

"It's a general open house," she said, "not just for students of color, although there are items on the program targeted to them."

Sessions will offer information on admissions, financial aid, housing, academic support programs, opportunities for transfer and undecided students and multi-color students and organizations. Prospective students will view departmental and student organization exhibits and in some cases tour the departments.

The cultural festival offers the chance to see currently enrolled students of color sharing their talents, including dance, choral and dramatic presentations.
