Chancellor Walter V. Wendler, Todd Chizmar and Chris Micha.

Chris Micha and Todd Chizmar remain fiercely loyal to their alma mater. Both are graduates of SIUC's automotive technology program. Both work for DaimlerChrysler in Auburn Hills, Mich. And on Friday, Oct. 10, they returned to campus to present a much-needed gift to the nationally recognized program that gave them their start.

Joining Micha and Chizmar for the formal presentation of the enclosed trailer, valued at $21,000, were Chancellor Walter V. Wendler; Rickey N. McCurry, vice chancellor for institutional advancement; and Jack Greer, chairman of the automotive technology department.

Micha graduated from the program in 1983; Chizmar in 1996.

"It is an outstanding program and it offered me the ability to come work for the Big Three (automakers) either out in the zones nationwide or here in Detroit," said Micha, manager of Advanced Service Diagnostics Electronic Service Product Development for DaimlerChrysler.

The enclosed trailer will transport donated training vehicles to SIUC and carry the Automotive Technology Organization's project car to sanctioned motorsports events.
