Morris Library joins effort for needy children

Glenn Poshard, former vice chancellor of administration and founder of the Poshard Foundation, and Pat Benton, radio host at WUEZ 95.1 and founder of Pat's Kids, turn on the lights of a Christmas tree at Morris Library that will be the focal point for donations to help abused, neglected and abandoned children in the area. Ornaments will be placed on the tree honoring each donor. For the second year, Morris Library is joining in the holiday effort to provide help for abused, neglected and abandoned children in the region. This year Morris Library is hoping to raise $100 each for 50 families to buy gifts or essential items. Donations may be dropped off at the library administrative offices from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays; for all other times, see the circulation desk. On a table near the tree are letters written by the children themselves that detail their situations and holiday wishes. The tax-deductible donations are due by Dec. 12. Donors who wish may take home the ornaments as a keepsake after Dec. 19.
