A national research agency has awarded the university a new $1 million grant aimed at helping community college students prepare for careers in the energy sector. More


‘Illinois Ethics Matters’ newsletter available

The monthly “Illinois Ethics Matters” newsletter for April 2016 is now available.  The Office of Executive Inspector General publishes the newsletter to allow state employees to stay informed of current issues relating to ethics. The SIU system Ethics Office website contains information regarding how to file a complaint, relevant contact information, and many other resources.


Academic, art camps planned for summer

The university will host dozens of academic and art camps and workshops this summer, giving children of all ages enriching, educational, enjoyable experiences. More


Saluki softball hosts Northern Iowa; will honor Brechtelsbauer

The Saluki softball team will host Northern Iowa in its final home series of the season this weekend, and honor legendary SIU Hall of Fame Coach Kay Brechtelsbauer.  More


Tuesday Trek set for May 3

The next “Tuesday Trek” is at 12:15 p.m., May 3. The 1.5- to 2.5 mile walk will being at the Student Services Building Pavilion and go around campus lake. The trek will last about 45 minutes. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. Research has shown that walking at least 30 minutes once a day helps reduce the risk of osteoporosis, as well as many other illnesses.
