Work by 10 students in a Small Town Documentary class who are chronicaling a separate community in the region will be on display beginning Friday, Dec. 4, through the end of the semester. More


WellSIU ‘Tuesday Trek’ is Dec. 2

The next 'Tuesday Trek' of the fall semester is at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2. The 1.5- to 2.5-mile walk will begin at the Student Services Building Pavilion. In the event of inclement weather, the location will be the Student Recreation Center indoor track.

Research shows that walking at least 30 minutes a day can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis, as well as many other illnesses. Information on this and other “WellSIU Employee Wellness Initiative” programs available to faculty and staff is here.


Faculty book launch is Dec. 8

The Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program will host a faculty book launch and “Meet the Authors” event from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 8, in Faner Hall, Room 3342. The authors with their respective works are: Janet Fuller, professor, Department of Anthropology, “An Introduction to Sociolinguistics, Seventh Edition;” Stacey Sloboda, associate professor, School of Art and Design, “Chinoiserie: Commerce and Critical Ornament in Eighteenth-Century Britian (Studies in Design),” and Barbara Bickel, associate professor, School of Art and Design, “Arts-based and Contemplative Practices in Research and Teaching: Honoring Presence.


‘WellSIU’ seminar on financial planning set

The WellSIU ‘Wellness Wednesday’ lunch seminar on Wednesday, Dec. 3, will focus on financial wellness. The seminar is by Scott McClatchey, a certified financial planner. The session is from 12:15 to 1 p.m. in the Student Center’s Kaskaskia Room.
