New password/passphrase standard in effect 

A new password/passphrase standard that represents a more formal requirement is now in effect for all faculty, staff and students.  The new standard supersedes the network ID password/passphrase guidelines from April 2013.More


 Walk will put spotlight on oral cancer 

Students in the Dental Hygiene Program will participate in the Oral Cancer Foundation’s inaugural Southern Illinois awareness walk on Oct. 5. The students, along with registered dental hygienists and licensed dentists, will provide the screenings. In addition, a four-mile walk is also scheduled. More

‘Meet the Lenders’ to offer small business opportunities

Entrepreneurs who are interested in starting or expanding a business can participate in a “Meet the Lenders” business and lender matchmaking event Sept. 30 at the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center. More


 Inaugural Harvest Festival/Open House is Oct. 2

The university’s sustainable vegetable farm and Local Organic Gardening Initiative of Carbondale (LOGIC) will host the inaugural Harvest Festival from 3 to 6 p.m., Oct. 2, at the student gardens and student farm, 3373 W. Pleasant Hill Road, Carbondale. Everyone is encouargd to visit, walk the farms, take a tour and taste the food. There will also be music and eco art activities with the Student Center Craft Shop. 


‘Curtains’ lifts 2014-15 theater season

Department of Theater will present “Curtains,” a murder-mystery-musical comedy at the McLeod Theater as the first play of the 2014-2015 season, Oct. 2-5. More


Sims to present in ‘Spotlight Series’

Cynthia Sims, associate professor in Workforce Education and Development, will present, “Genderized Lookism and Colorism Abroad,” at 3:30 p.m., Oct. 16, in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium. The presentation is part of the “Diversity Wise Spotlight Series,” an event that showcases the inclusive excellence talents of faculty and staff.
