SIU names 2014 Chancellor’s Academic Scholars

Exceptional efforts in the classroom and in their communities are among the qualities of each of this year’s students named Chancellor’s Academic Scholars.  The academic scholarship is the university’s most prestigious award and covers tuition, fees and room and board for four years. More 


Proposals sought for women’s leadership conference

The inaugural SIU Women’s Leadership Conference is accepting proposals from faculty, staff and graduate students for its event on Sept. 19 at the Student Center. The conference, which will be open to undergraduate students and high school seniors, will focus on developing future women leaders. More

Research looks at chili pepper in hearing loss reduction study

Dr. Leonard Rybak, professor emeritus of surgery in the Division of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and SIU Carbondale Distinguished Scholar, has received a five-year federal grant to continue his studies of how to reduce hearing loss in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. More
