Media Advisory — Christopher Gardner

Due to the anticipated turnout, Christopher Gardner will deliver his speech at the SIU Arena at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 23. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Also on Thursday, reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to participate in a media availability with Gardner, owner and CEO of Christopher Gardner International Holdings, and subject of the No. 1 best-selling book and movie, "The Pursuit of Happyness." The media availability will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Southern Illinois University's Stone Center.

SIU President Glenn Poshard, who met Gardner when the two spoke at a conference at Lake of the Ozarks, will also be present. SIU's Office of the President, the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, SIUC's Office of Associate Chancellor for Diversity, and the Southern Illinoisan are sponsoring Gardner's visit.

The media is also welcome to cover a book signing with Gardner — that is open to the public — from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday in the Old Main Lounge area of the SIUC Student Center. Gardner's book will be available to buy there, and is available in local bookstores.
