Michigan alumni chapter plans July 26 picnic

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Greater Michigan Chapter of the Southern Illinois University Alumni Association invites family, friends and neighbors to a day of fun in the sun for Southern Illinois University Carbondale alumni in the Detroit area.

The picnic begins at 11 a.m. (EST) on July 26 in the Kensington Metro Park Area at the Hickory Ridge Site H in Milford, Mich. Food is served from 1 to 3 p.m. and the picnic goes until 6 p.m.

Attendees are asked to bring their own beverages and a dish to share. Picnic activities include biking trails, hiking, paddleboats, volleyball, bocce ball and softball. Door prizes add to the fun.

Cost is $10 per adult ticket. Children 12 years old and younger attend for free. Visit the SIU Alumni Association Web site for more information.

For those who want to show up at the picnic in Saluki gear, the latest Saluki merchandise is available from the alumni association online store. Members receive a 15 percent discount.

Membership in the SIU Alumni Association is open to alumni, students and friends of SIUC. Annual individual membership is $40. A life membership is $500 with installment plans available. Student members pay only $15.
