Reporters, photographers and camera crews are invited to cover a news conference next week on the planned demolition of several old houses owned by Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The event, which will include SIU President Glenn Poshard, SIUC Interim Chancellor Samuel Goldman, Carbondale Mayor Brad Cole and neighborhood representatives, will outline the cooperation between the University and the local community on this project.

The event is set for 11:15 a.m. Monday, April 21 at 1101 Chautauqua St., the address of the first house slated for demolition. In the event of rain, officials will move the news conference inside the house.
