by Hannah Erickson

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Local artists have a unique opportunity to display their work, with Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s University Museum accepting submissions for new exhibits.

As a long-standing representation of SIU’s commitment to the arts, humanities and sciences, the Museum welcomes art of all types, regardless of style or subject matter. Submission is open until October 1, with accepted pieces chosen by that day.

Submission requirements

Submissions for the 2020 exhibits are free, with artists required to submit an artist statement, description of work and images of work to Wes Stoerger, University Museum curator of exhibits. Information can be sent to stoerger@siu.edu or 1000 Faner Drive, Carbondale, Illinois, 62901.

Accepted works will require approval from University Museum staff, under the guidance of Stoerger. With 11 total gallery spaces, anywhere from 8-11 exhibits are on display at any time, providing excellent opportunities for local artists.

Exhibit dates for accepted submissions will vary based on individual works and the ongoing galleries at the Museum.
