SIU’s 2018 Holiday Craft Sale offers décor and more from over 75 vendors

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Finding just the right gift for a special someone or for yourself is easy at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s annual Holiday Craft Sale, set for Nov. 29-Dec. 1.

The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 and 30 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 1. It takes place in the Student Center’s Art Gallery and Renaissance Room, located on the first floor.

There’s no admission charge and the event is open to everyone.

Dozens of vendors

More than 75 vendors are participating in the 40th anniversary Holiday Craft Sale, sponsored by the Student Center Craft Shop. Featured items will include ceramics, paintings, drawings, prints, fibers, glass, jewelry, holiday décor, woodcrafts, metalsmithed items and a wide variety of unique items for gifts, personal use or the home.

You’ll also want to check out the handiworks SIU student organizations are selling to benefit their departments or student groups. Included are ceramics crafted by SIU Ceramics, a series of mini-prints by the Graduate Association of Painters and Printmakers (GAPP), handmade wreaths and garlands from SIU horticulture and handcrafted jewelry and metal items from Southern Illinois Metalsmiths Society (SIMS).

Free Saturday parking

Visitors can park in the paid lot across from the Student Center on the first two days of the sale. Parking in that lot will be free on the final day.
