SIU’s Online Accounting Program Earns National Recognition
CARBONDALE, Ill. – The online accounting program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale recently earned national accolades from a number of venues.
The College of Business program is ranked No. 4 among “The 25 Best Online Bachelor in Accounting Degree Programs” according to TheBestSchools.org. The programs were evaluated on the basis of the quality of the program, types of courses provided, strength of faculty, and the awards, rankings and reputation of the institution. Profiles of the ranked schools were included with the article.
SIU’s online accounting program is a degree completion program, allowing people who have already finished their prerequisite courses and 60 college credit hours to take the rest of the courses and earn their bachelor’s degree completely online. It typically takes 24 months, though the program can be completed in as little as 18 months.
SIU also ranked No. 6 among “The 35 Best Value Online Accounting Degrees” by Discover Business. These ranks were determined on the basis of price, reputation, salary outlook and job prospects for graduates.

To be consistently ranked in the top 10 or top 20 by a number of ranking organizations is a positive reflection on the expertise and dedication of our faculty, staff and students.”
In addition, SIU holds the twelfth spot on the Online Accounting Degree Programs’ list of the “Top 15 Best Online Accounting Degree Programs 2017,” the No. 12 position among CollegeStart.org’s “Best Affordable Online Accounting Bachelors Degree Programs 2016-2017” and the 32nd spot on College Choice’s “35 Best Online Accounting Degrees for 2018” list.
