Media Advisory -- Conservation Cropping Seminar

Members of the media interested in reporting on agricultural conservation are welcome to a conservation cropping seminar at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on Thursday, Jan. 26. Three SIU faculty members will present discussions during the seminar, which begins at 8:40 a.m. in Student Center Ballroom B. Karla Gage, a weed ecologist and assistant professor of plant, soil and agricultural systems, will discuss invasive species control; Rebecca Atkinson, associate professor of animal science, food and nutrition, will explain how to integrate cattle foraging and cover crops; and Karl Williard, professor of forestry, will talk about riparian buffers between crop fields for soil conservation. The seminar will last until about 3:10 p.m. with a break for lunch.
