CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale is hosting two winter athletics clinics for youths.

The Jump, Throws or Vault Clinic is Jan. 2, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center. The clinic is open to any junior high or high school male or female student who would like to learn or improve skills in long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, discus or pole vault events.

Terry VanLaningham, associate Saluki head coach and J.C. Lambert, assistant coach, will provide instruction. The cost is $100 for jumps, for throws, or for pole vault. Coaches are welcome and lunch is provided.

The Baseball Winter Hitting Clinic is set for Jan. 23-24, 2016, at the Garden Grove Event Center (formerly Sports Blast), located at 115 E. Walnut St. in Carbondale.  The session from 1-3:30 each day is for ages 6-12 while participants ages 13-18 will attend from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
