Black Alumni Group reunion set for July 16-19

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Black Alumni Group, a constituent society of the SIU Alumni Association, will reunite alumni from all over the country at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in July.

The 2015 Black Alumni Group Reunion, July 16-19, will include various gatherings, a tour of campus, the BAG traditional Step Show, a community service project, as well as the group’s business meeting and election of officers. The Black Alumni Group is one of the Association’s several constituency organizations, supporting initiatives and programs promoting the tradition, pride and opportunity embodied in more than 237,000 living alumni of SIU.

Held biennially in July during odd-numbered years, the BAG Reunion is an opportunity for hundreds of black alumni to gather, celebrate and plan their continued support of SIU.

During each reunion, alumni take part in a community service project for the Carbondale area. This year participants will be donating school supplies to the Eurma C. Hayes Center for distribution among children for the upcoming school year. The presentation will take place at 3:30 p.m. July 17 at the center.

Reunion registrations will be accepted until 4:30 p.m., July 10. For more information, including a schedule of events, or to register, call the Association at 618/453-2408 or visit siualumni.com/bag.
