‘Give Adults a Smile Day’ dental program is July 10

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Openings are available for the fifth annual “Give Adults a Smile Day” at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. 

The event, which offers access to free dental services for community members, is July 10 at the SIU Dental Hygiene Clinic, 1365 Douglas Drive, located west of the SIU Arena. The session will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments can be made until May 15 by calling 618/453-8826. After that, patients can leave their name and telephone number in a phone message that will be checked periodically.

Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover “Give Adults a Smile Day” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, July 10, at the SIU Dental Hygiene Clinic, located west of the SIU Arena. Organizers anticipate dental care will be provided for about 80 people. For more information, contact Jennifer S. Interested participants are encouraged to call as soon as possible because a limited number of about 80 openings are available. The event is for adults ages 20 and older who are uninsured, on a fixed income, or covered by Medicaid. 

Registered dental hygienists and area dentists, along with dental hygiene students from SIU Carbondale and John A. Logan College, will provide free dental care including examinations, x-rays, cleanings, limited restorative care and fluoride treatments.
