Student Center increases dining options

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Student Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is continuing its efforts to increase the variety of dining options it offers.

Ninja Noodles and Rice opens today (March 9), but the grand opening is March 30. Visitors will receive samples and coupons at the 11 a.m. event.

The eatery is on the first floor, south of the Marketplace Food Court. The restaurant enables people to build their own personalized rice or noodle bowl meals in four steps: choosing rice or noodles, protein (three meat options, tofu or no-meat), sauce (six choices) and up to five of the nine available vegetables.

The Student Center also operates Maroon Spoon, Freshly Tossed (salads and soups), Cantina Bravo (Mexican food), Sbarro and Chick-fil-A in the Marketplace, as well as Starbucks. Additional Student Center food options include McDonald’s and Subway.
