Opportunity to ‘Ask an Archivist’ is Thursday

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Archivists from the Special Collections Research Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Morris Library will participate in a national Twitter event from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30.

“Ask an Archivist” is an opportunity to learn how to store those photographs on your telephone so you can access them later, or learn about the unusual items within SIU’s library collections or those at other libraries across the country. The Society of American Archivists is sponsoring the event.

Simply tweet the question with the hashtag #AskAnArchivist. Your question will go to archivists around the country who are waiting to respond directly to you. Archivists from universities, museums, historical societies, churches, businesses, state and local governments and other organizations are participating.

If your question is specific to SIU, put @SCRC_at_SIUC in your tweet to assure it goes directly to them. Six library archivists from SIU are participating.

For more information about this event, visit http://bit.ly/1zkBCNB, or visit the Morris Library website at www.lib.siu.edu/scrc or email speccoll@lib.siu.edu. Individuals without Twitter accounts can also participate through Morris Library’s Special Collections Research Center website or by email.
