CARBONDALE, Ill. -- An upcoming event at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center will give university students and educators an opportunity to enhance their outdoor recreation skills and knowledge.

The fourth annual Association for Experiential Education (AEE) Heartland Regional Student Summit, Nov. 7-9, is a student-centered professional development program for those interested in outdoor recreation and education. The event will feature guest speakers and several workshops, including student presentations and live entertainment. Students will have an opportunity to network with other students as well as with representatives from outdoor recreation and education agencies and organizations seeking interns, graduate students and employees.

Early registration is $95 by Nov. 1. The registration fee is $125 after the early deadline. The fee covers two nights of lodging and five meals. Touch of Nature is about eight miles south of Carbondale off Giant City Road.

Students are encouraged to submit a workshop proposal. Students with accepted workshop entries pay just $85 to attend.
