Searchers needed in the hunt for ‘Grey Dawg’

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Homecoming 2014 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will include an all new event, a scavenger hunt, and everyone is welcome to participate.

The hunt begins at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at the front entrance of Morris Library.  Participants will be searching for the famous Grey Dawg. Each contestant will receive a clue sheet upon arrival and will then search for clues, using smartphones or tablets to take photos and complete social media portions of the contest. Paw prints will lead the way to clues and eventually, to SIU’s mascot.

The first 200 people to come to the hunt will receive a free flash drive. One lucky winner will receive a $100 University Bookstore gift card and runner-up prizes will be books from University Press.

All participants must pre-register to participate. To sign up, register on Facebook by searching for “Win $100 Gift Card at Morris.”
