‘Start Seeing Pink’ activities set

A variety of special events and promotions to raise awareness and support the fight against breast cancer is set for the “Start Seeing Pink” campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Faculty, staff and students can join the cause and help future students who have been impacted by breast cancer in the process by wearing “Saluki Pink” and participating in the Human Pink Ribbon photograph.  From now through Monday, Sept. 22, anyone may order “Start Seeking Pink” T-shirts, crewnecks and hoodies for $10, $15 or $20, respectively.

The apparel will be available for pick-up at the Old Main Room on the second floor of the Student Center on Oct. 1.  In addition to wearing the clothing at other times, everyone is invited to join together in their pink shirts to create a human pink ribbon in October, at a time and place to be determined.

To order the Saluki pink clothing, visit here no later than Sept. 22.  In addition, a limited number of shirts will be available for a donation of $10 or more at home football games Oct. 4 and 25, while supplies last.

All proceeds of the “Start Seeing Pink” apparel will go to SIU’s Saluki Strength Breast Cancer Scholarship Fund.  The fund will provide financial assistance to students whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.
