Media Advisory – Veterans Art Show
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to attend the Veterans Art Show closing reception, Friday, Sept. 12, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Surplus Gallery, formerly the Old Glove Factory, 432 S. Washington St. The closing reception is from 6 to 9 p.m.
The show, which is currently running this week, features more than 60 pieces of art created by area veterans and their families. The gallery is open weekdays from noon to 6 p.m.
This event is one of several honoring veterans during this Patriot Day weekend. Other events include:
- Traveling Vietnam Wall, Thursday to Sunday Sept. 11-14, Saluki football practice field.
- Run to Remember 5K run/walk, 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, Saluki Stadium.
- Veteran Tailgate and Military Appreciation Day, Sat. Sept. 13. Tailgate begins at 2 p.m.; Saluki football game against Southeast Missouri State University is at 6 p.m.
