Discussion will focus on child welfare

A conference next month will bring professionals together to examine child welfare delivery services and provide recommendations for improvements.

The free symposium, “Protecting Our Children: Using Data as the Foundation,” is June 17 in the Student Center Ballrooms.   The symposium is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, SIU School of Medicine and Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development are event sponsors.

In recent years, data collected has compounded the concerns regarding the child welfare system.  The symposium is designed to move the discussion forward and to support Illinois’ children and families.  The symposium will review the current child welfare service delivery system, discuss data limitations, service integration and provide recommendations for advancing the system.

Registration information is here.  Contact Vanessa Sneed, institute project coordinator, at 618/453-4004 or at rsvp@paulsimoninstitute.org.
