Media Advisory – Fashion showcase/runway show
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to attend the annual student showcase and runway fashion show presented by seniors in Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Fashion Design and Merchandising program. The event is Thursday, April 24, in Student Center Ballroom D.
The evening starts at 6 p.m. in the Student Center’s J.W. Corker Lounge with junior-and senior-level fashion design students showing original garments they created. The runway fashion show, featuring the works of nine student designers, including one male student, begins at 7 p.m.
The nine student designers are responsible for every detail of their collection, from concept to fashion illustration, fabric sourcing, patterning and construction, model and music selection, and accessory coordination. The designs also help students build their individual portfolios.
