‘Sustainability Basics’ lunch series starts Thursday

SIU Sustainability will be hosting weekly brown bag lunches each Thursday in April with the focus on how to be more environmentally friendly at SIU and in the world.

Earth Day is April 22 and the month usually brings a variety of events that focus on the environment.  The weekly series will be an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to participate in discussions on how to become more sustainable at the university.  The informal lunches are designed to attract people with all levels of interest and experience in sustainability topics.

The discussions are from noon to 1 p.m. in the Student Center’s Thebes Room.  In partnership with Non-Traditional Student Services, the first discussion on Thursday, April 3, will be on “Healthy Food in Busy Lives.”  Participants at the first lunch will also be eligible to win a dinner for two at Giant City Lodge.

Other topics will be water on April 10; clothing on April 17, and shelter on April 24.
