Asner-Self to lead group counseling organization

Kimberly K. Asner-Self, associate professor and program coordinator of the Counselor Education doctoral program, was recently chosen president-elect of the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW). 

She will serve one year as president-elect beginning July 1 before becoming organization president in July 2015 for a year.  She will then serve a one-year term as past president.  ASGW is a division of the American Counseling Association.  The Counselor Education doctoral program is within the College of Education and Human Services. 

Asner-Self is a nationally certified counselor and an Illinois licensed clinical professional counselor.  She has worked in the College of Education and Human Services since 1999.
