Annual art sales kick off holiday season
CARBONDALE, Ill. – The School of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Carbondale presents several annual holiday art sales. This year’s sales are Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 4-5.
Southern Clay Works, Southern Glass Works, and Southern Illinois Metalsmiths will also host sales of student and faculty-created art in the Pulliam Hall Industrial Wing from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 4. Southern Clay Works will also offer an additional day of art sales from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5.
Available art includes functional ceramics and glass, sculpture in ceramic, glass, and metal, jewelry and more. All items are one-of-a-kind and uniquely represent SIU.
Proceeds from the sales benefit the student organizations presenting the sales. These student organizations bring guest artists, workshops and craft demonstrations to campus. Funds also contribute to student research and creative and scholarly activities.
