RSO and Volunteerism Fair set for Jan. 17

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- There are countless ways to get involved at Southern Illinois University and students can discover many of them at the RSO and Volunteerism Fair.

The free event is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Student Center Ballrooms.  More than 90 of the 400-plus campus registered student organizations, along with more than 20 community organizations, will participate.

SIU Carbondale students may attend and find out more about all kinds of groups where they can get involved, have fun and volunteer on behalf of non-profit community entities.  Among the representatives at the fair will be sports and recreation clubs, scholastic and professional honorary societies, public interest groups, student government groups, departmental and special interest organizations, Greek life and cultural groups.  Students will also be able to meet with the staffs of community non-profit organizations that also have a range of volunteer opportunities.

The office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development and the Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism host the RSO and Volunteerism Fair at the start of each semester.  For more information contact Bethany Wendler at wendlerba@siu.edu or Mythili Rundblad at rundblad@siu.edu, or look online at http://getinvolved.siu.edu/index.html
