by Jordan Wren

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- There are four more opportunities to participate in "Completely Free" workshops at University Museum at Southern Illinois University Carbondale this fall.

The programs, completely free as the name indicates, are for children ages 7 to 13 who are looking for direction for their creativity. The programs are from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at University Museum in Faner Hall.

Pre-registration is required, and space is limited to 10 participants. For more information or to pre-register, call 618/453-5388.

The remaining Completely Free workshop schedule is:

  • Saturday, Nov. 10 -- Booking It. This program includes a look at books from University Museum's special collections, and bookmaking.
  • Nov. 17 -- Treasure Map Clue Hunt. Students will use codes and clues to find hidden treasure in the museum.
  • December 1 -- Back to the Future. Students will create retro-style designs from historical items such as cameras and radios.
  • December 8 -- Cartoon Collage. This program includes a look at the exhibit, "Political Cartoons from the Mileur Collection." Students will use pictures to make cartoons of their own.
