Media Advisory -- TEC Grand Opening
Southern Illinois University Carbondale will celebrate the grand opening of its Transportation Education Center on Friday, Oct. 26.
The event begins at 2 p.m. at the north entrance to the building, which is at 545 N. Airport Road, Murphysboro, at the Southern Illinois Airport.
Chancellor Rita Cheng will serve as master of ceremonies for the program, which will include remarks by U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello and Gov. Pat Quinn.
The $63 million, 230,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, is home to the University's nationally recognized automotive technology, aviation management and flight, and aviation technologies programs.
A reception and tours will follow.
