CARBONDALE, Ill. -- An event at Southern Illinois University Carbondale next week will show people how to maximize their job opportunities by enhancing their education.

The Department of Workforce Education and Development (WED) is hosting a Preview Evening on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Pulliam Hall, Room 206. The free program begins at 4:45 p.m., and the public is welcome. Visitors can meet with WED faculty, current students, and program alumni to learn how they can improve their careers and become more marketable.

The event will offer members of the public and potential students the opportunity to learn more about Workforce Education and Development's bachelor and master's degree programs. The nationally recognized programs offer convenient, flexible formats with a focus on technology and employment advancement. The nationally recognized programs augment an individual's existing work experience and professional training, and helps prepare graduates for positions in the corporate, educational, non-profit and government sectors.

The program consistently obtains high marks from students with 97 percent saying it meets or exceeds their expectations and 98 percent saying they would recommend it to other people.

The preview evening wraps up about 5:45 p.m., but those attending may also visit a WED class at 6 p.m. if they desire. The evening includes refreshments and a door prize drawing as well.
