SIU Carbondale ‘Transfer Day’ coming to SWIC

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale will present Transfer Day at Southwestern Illinois College next week.

The Thursday, Oct. 4, event will give community college students who want to pursue a four-year degree a chance to learn more about the University, and even apply for admission without paying the standard admission fee.

The early portion of the two-part program is set for 9-11 a.m. at SWIC's Belleville campus in the first-floor lounge, stage and hallway area of the main complex.  The program runs again from 1-3 p.m. in the lobby of the main entrance at SWIC's Red Bud campus.

Students will be able to meet with representatives from undergraduate admissions, financial aid, and housing.  Students can learn about Capstone and other transfer-student specific programs and opportunities, and also meet with representatives of the University's various academic departments and colleges.

Students can make the most of the event by participating in an on-site admission review.  Participants in the review should bring official transcripts from every college they have attended. SIU Carbondale will waive the $30 admission free for all students who apply for admission during this event.

To pre-register, contact the SIU Carbondale Service Center at SWIC during office hours or by calling 618/713-4725.  On-site registration is also available.
