Media Advisory -- Up 'til Dawn Check Presentation
Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Up ‘til Dawn philanthropic program will present a check to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital prior to Saluki football’s annual Spring Game on Friday, April 20.
Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the presentation at about 6:45 p.m. in Saluki Stadium. The University’s chapter of Up ‘til Dawn held a kick-off event in November 2011, and has continued to raise money for St. Jude, which treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Representatives from the campus group will present a check for more than $65,000 to the hospital on Friday.
That total ranks the University fourth currently among campus Up ‘til Dawn fundraising efforts nationwide. Jessica Stout, a physiology/pre-medicine major from Taylorville, is the campus executive director for Up ‘til Dawn and said the fundraising efforts will continue through the end of the school year. Already more than 1,200 students are involved in the project and people can still donate to St. Jude on behalf of SIU Up ‘til Dawn on the website http://getinvolved.siu.edu/involved/up-til-dawn.
