Free workshop open to faculty, staff

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- We can’t control the world around us but we can control ourselves.

How well we communicate with others influences how they view our work and perceive our performance, and “How to Handle What Life Dishes Out” is the theme of an upcoming workshop at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  Faculty and staff members are welcome at the presentation from Labor and Employee Relations set for 9:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Student Health Center Auditorium.

The workshop by Carol Fisher, workforce learning and development officer, will discuss professional integrity and highlight actions we can take to focus on solutions to problems.  She’ll suggest effective ways of dealing with criticism to maintain professional integrity, resolve issues, and concentrate on positive solutions.

All campus faculty and staff are welcome to attend at no cost.  Registration is on a walk-in basis.  For more information, contact Fisher at cefisher@siu.edu.
